Implicit Bias Test

Let's just say that this test was not what I expected but I found it very interesting nonetheless. On one hand I think it could definitely show signs of our repressed prejudices but I also question its accuracy on some level (mainly just because I have very twitchy fingers so some of my keyboard clicks may have just been due to my arthritis rather than some bias that resides deep within me).

I decided to complete the Transgender IAT and the Sexuality IAT because as a trans/nonbinary and bisexual person, those are two topics that have had a strong impact on my life. I also chose the Race IAT because my race has never really been much of an obstacle that I've had to tackle so I thought it would be interesting to see the results of the test with the initial belief that I don't have much bias toward race.

My results consisted of this: I moderately prefer transgender people over cisgender people, I have no automatic preference between gay people and straight people, and I moderately prefer White people over Black people. I took the tests in that order, too, and I think my faith in the test dwindled with each new result. I'm not very surprised at the idea that I might have a preference toward trans people over cis people; being trans myself, I tend to gravitate toward other trans people because I can relate to them and we may have shared experiences. It's for this same reason that I would've thought that I'd have a preference toward gay people over straight people and yet the test claims that I don't have any preference toward either of them. Then it tells me that I prefer White people over Black. I've never believed myself to have any sort of racial preference and it honestly kind of scares me to think that I might have some sort of deep-seated prejudice that even I am unaware of. But alas, perhaps my twitchy arthritic fingers got the best of me and these results aren't even accurate anyway.
